Run your docs from your AI assistant.

palt.io has an MCP server. Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP client, and your assistant can push specs, write guide pages and publish versions for you.

Connect

  1. 1

    Create a key

It acts as you, so the assistant can do what you can, and nothing more.

Paste it to fill in the snippets below. It stays in this tab and is never sent or saved.

  2. 2

    Add palt to your assistant

    Pick the tool you use.

Run this in a terminal. Leave out --scope user to add palt to this project only.

    terminal
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user palt https://www.palt.io/api/v1/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
  3. 3

    Ask for something

In plain words. The assistant picks the tools.

    • “Push the spec in this repo to my payments project.”push_spec
    • “Write a quickstart page for payments from its spec.”get_specwrite_page
    • “Publish 2.1.0 and make it the default.”update_spec
    • “Make the payments docs teal, #0F766E.”update_project
    • “Which plan am I on, and what's left this month?”whoami

Tools

14 tools, the same things the API and the CLI do, through the same access checks as the dashboard.

ToolWhat it doesEffect
whoamiThe palt.io account this connection acts as: email, plan, limits and this month's usage.Reads
list_projectsEvery documentation project the account owns or belongs to, with its docs URL and the account's role.Reads
get_projectOne project: name, docs URL, branding and how many specs and pages it has.Reads
create_projectCreates a documentation site. The slug becomes its subdomain (slug.palt.io) and must be free across palt.io.Writes
update_projectChanges a project's name, description, branding (logo URLs for the dark and light themes, site title, default theme, dark and light colours as #rrggbb) or visibility. Send only what changes. Hiding the palt.io badge needs Pro; password visibility needs a docs password, added in the dashboard.Writes
list_specsEvery OpenAPI spec version in a project, newest first, with endpoint counts and which one readers see.Reads
get_specOne spec version. Set include_document to read the full OpenAPI document (it can be large).Reads
push_specImports an OpenAPI 3.x or Swagger 2.0 document as content (JSON or YAML text) or from a public url. The version defaults to the document's info.version; pushing a version that exists replaces it. The first spec becomes the default.Writes
update_specPublishes or unpublishes a spec version, or makes it the version readers see first.Writes
delete_specDeletes a spec version from a project. Readers lose that version; when it was the default, the newest remaining one takes over.Deletes
list_pagesEvery guide page in a project, in navigation order, with its markdown and public URL.Reads
get_pageOne guide page with its markdown.Reads
write_pageCreates the guide page at this slug, or replaces it, from markdown. Without a title, a new page takes its first # heading. parent is another page's slug, or null for the top level.Writes
delete_pageDeletes a guide page. Its child pages move up a level.Deletes

Good to know

It acts as you
Every call runs as the key's account, with your role on each project: owners and admins manage, editors write, viewers read.
Deletes ask first
delete_spec and delete_page are marked destructive, so clients that confirm risky actions ask before running them.
Revoking is instant
Delete a key on the API keys page and anything using it stops at once.
ChatGPT and claude.ai
ChatGPT's connectors sign in with OAuth, which palt's server doesn't offer yet. claude.ai connects where custom connectors can send request headers, a beta on some plans.
Same limits as the API
The server shares the API’s keys, rate limits and errors. Errors and limits

Your next docs change is one sentence away.
