Cookies
Only the cookies sign-in and your docs need. No analytics, no advertising.
| Cookie | Kind | Purpose | Lives |
|---|---|---|---|
| better-auth.session_token (prefixed __Secure- over HTTPS) | essential | keeps you signed in to the dashboard | 7 days, renewed while you use palt.io |
| Sign-in flow cookies set by our auth library | essential | protect GitHub and Google sign-in against forgery | minutes |
| docs-access-<project>, on password-protected docs | essential | remembers which docs password a reader gave, so they aren't asked again | 30 days, or until that password is removed |
| docs-theme-<project>, on any docs site | preference | remembers a reader's light or dark choice | 1 year |
Essential cookies cannot be declined; nothing signs in without them. palt.io sets no analytics or advertising cookies. The docs you publish set a cookie on a reader only when they choose a theme or give a docs password. Their page views are counted on our server without an identifier; on password-protected docs, each password also counts the pages read with it.
Local storage holds one small convenience, which identifies no one to us: your dashboard theme.
